

Anthony Landers
Treasurer
Anthony is a Chicano (of chichimeca descent) educator and researcher. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Rutgers University. His research interests span carceral geographies, higher education in prison, and environmental justice studies. Specifically, his research explores the theoretical implications and the humanitarian issues concerning inmate exposure to toxics and extreme climate events.
As an educator, he offers undergraduate courses in social theory, criminology, and intro to sociology. His teaching pedagogy is centered around transformative education empowering his students to apply critical analysis to everyday life. Anthony has over 10 years of experience mentoring currently and formerly incarcerated students pursuing higher education. He is a member of a broader coalition of formerly incarcerated support networks on university campuses in both California and New Jersey. Outside of work, Anthony is a danzante, singer, and focused on native language revitalization (Nauatl-Huasteca).
