

Josh Somers
Data and Program Manager
Joshua Somers, is a Research Manager at MILPA. He is an enrolled member of the Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation, Auteca Paguae clan, rooted in Yanaguana (San Antonio). He combats cultural erasure through community organizing and collaboration with American Indians in Texas. A facilitator of La Cultura Cura, he is dedicated to preserving Indigenous traditions.
Drawing on his experiences overcoming incarceration, and addiction, Josh brings unique insight to his work. He holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and an Associate degree in Substance Abuse Counseling from Texas A&M San Antonio. He advocates against mass incarceration, presenting at conferences and engaging with stakeholders nationwide. Outside of work, he shares his heritage as an indigenous artist, fire chief, and storyteller.
