Karina Moreno

Program & Leadership Coordinator II

Karina Moreno (she/they) is a Program and Leadership Coordinator at MILPA. She is an Indigenous Chicana, grew up in Watsonville, CA, where they witnessed the challenges faced by rural communities due to climate change and criminal justice disparities. This experience ignited a passion for the intersection of environmental justice and racial equity. At MILPA Collective, they serve as a Program and Leadership Coordinator, working to integrate these passions. 


Karina applies their understanding of environmental justice to contribute to MILPA's mission of ending mass incarceration, while promoting cultural healing, political analysis, and civic engagement. Their dedication extends to community service, as they hold positions on the City of Watsonville Climate Action and Adaptation committee, the Santa Cruz County Women's Commission, and the Watsonville Wetlands Watch Board of Directors.
